Etiquette Academy

Etiquette and Finishing School

Etiquette is an essential component of life skills. It involves the social norms, behaviours, and manners that govern our interactions with others in various settings.
Teaching children etiquette helps them develop respect, empathy, and consideration for others, and equips them with the tools to navigate social situations with confidence and grace.

Why Choose Our Course?

Greetings and Introductions

TLSP shows children how to greet others politely, including saying “hello,” making eye contact, and offering a handshake or a simple nod. Teach them how to introduce themselves and engage in conversations with others.

Table Manners

Showing children basic table manners such as sitting properly, using utensils correctly, chewing with their mouths closed, and waiting for others to start eating before beginning themselves. Encourage them to express gratitude and appreciation for the food and the efforts of those who prepared it.

Respect for Elders and Authority

Demonstrating how to show respect to elders, teachers, and authority figures. This includes using polite language, listening attentively, following instructions, and showing gratitude for guidance and assistance.

Active Listening and Conversation Skills

The importance of active listening by maintaining eye contact, nodding, and responding appropriately to others. Teach them to take turns while speaking, ask questions to show interest, and avoid interrupting others.

Politeness and Thankfulness

Encourage children to use “please” and “thank you” in their interactions. Teach them to express gratitude for acts of kindness, gifts, and help received.

Phone and Digital Etiquette

Guiding children about proper phone and digital etiquette, including using polite language in text messages, being mindful of tone, and respecting others’ privacy. Teach them about the importance of not using phones during conversations or at the dining table.

Respect for Personal Space and Boundaries

Explaining how to respect personal space and boundaries of others. Encourage them to ask for permission before touching someone or entering their personal space.

Kindness and Empathy

Showing children the value of kindness, empathy, and inclusivity. Encourage them to be considerate of others’ feelings, to help those in need, and to be aware of diverse perspectives and cultures.

Remember, teaching etiquette is an ongoing process that requires consistent reinforcement and modelling of desired behaviours. By instilling these etiquette skills in children, you are helping them develop strong interpersonal skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
